THE GOSPEL OF MATTHEW: "A counter narrative to shape Jesus' followers as an alternative community, resisting the authorities of both synagogue and state."

     Reading Warren Carter's commentary on Matthew, I came across this statement on the back cover of the book.  "Resisting authorities of both synagogue and state."  Presently I would rewrite it to say:  "Resisting authorities of both the U.S. Catholic Church and the President elect." From my perspective the institutional Catholic Church in the United States is not up to this task.  "Alternative community, intentional community, Basic Christian Community, Comunidades de base, etc."  It would seem to me their is a call to something new and different.  I have been part of a Home Church intentional community for several years.  There I find support, analysis, action and reflection.  But presently I feel that there is a call for more.
